Production Manager

Shortbarrel, LLC – Atlanta’s fastest growing homegrown spirits company, is growing again!  We are hiring for a production manager position in our Norcross location working with both the Shortbarrel and Old Fourth Brands.  This role would work directly with the founding team to blend, bottle, and grow both brands.  This is a ground-floor position at a company looking to double in 2024 and to 10x in the next 3 years – with our Production Manager growing right with us in terms of both finance and responsibility. The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing our distillery facility that stores, barrels and blends spirits. This role will support day-to-day distillery operations when needed but primarily will be responsible for bottling of spirits (both on and off-site) facility upkeep, inventory, reporting, administrative duties, schedules, and some equipment maintenance. 

The Production Manager should be available Monday – Friday 40  hours per week to manage and perform operations. Must be available to support occasional evening and weekend events when needed.

 Duties:

  • Facility maintenance: Set and meet expectations to keep the production facility clean, organized and up to a high quality standard.  
  • Inventory: Keep all finished products, unfinished products, raw materials and packaging items at set par levels at all times. Work with vendors to find cost savings when possible. 
  • Bottling: Ideally this role will operate the in-house bottling line 5-7 days a month and support external bottling operations
  • Support the production of spirits including but not limited to: Weekly and daily status updates with the team and executing a schedule that supports:  proofing, bottling, labeling, ordering, reporting and sanitation of equipment and production space.
  • Compliance: Monthly and quarterly Federal and State excise reporting. Working with the team to maintain accurate operation logs and safety protocols.
  • Management: Work with a growing distillery team to meet our increasing demand. 
  •  Front of House: Available for specific events to provide product knowledge, and about company history.
  • Leading growth of single barrel program(s): Develop/select whiskey barrels and supply for selections.
  •  Professional Development: Stay up to date with current industry standards and best practices, grow understanding of current industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail in standards of cleanliness and task orientation
  • Forklift experience is required 
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Mechanically inclined and familiar with basic troubleshooting for operation equipment
  • 2+ years of experience in the craft beverage industry (Brewery/Distillery) 
  • Decision-making pulling from experience with the ability to foster efficiencies
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Capable of developing and maintaining a production team
  • Customer service skills and effective communication to support the occasional brand promotion
  • Comfortable with working at a fast pace to meet deadlines 

 

Work environment:

Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently, with weight up to 175 lbs occasionally. It may involve exposure to cold, hot and humidity.
